Danity Kane is on Top

This one is a little bit hard to believe but based on the first day sales, Making the Band winners Danity Kane will have the number 1 album on next week’s charts as reported by HITS magazine. Their record is expected to sell anywhere between 250,000 to 275,000 units. Really? I’m wondering how this happened. A reality show winner is on top of the charts. The other top debut is said to be rapper Flo Rida with expected sales of 70,000 to 80,000 units to be moved. I’m no longer wondering why the record business is headed for the crapper, nay, in the crapper already.

Miley Cyrus YouTube for Jesus

Well, it was another episode of The Miley and Mandy Show on YouTube, featuring Miley Cyrus and her bff Mandy Jiroux. The two discussed their fave colors and boyfriends and their religion. They both emphatically answered, “Yes, we are” to a question of whether they are Christian.

Miley said, “We love Jesus! Jesus rocks! She dances for Jesus. I sing, dance, and act for Jesus! Now that I think about it, I do everything for Jesus. We make the YouTube videos for Jesus. We’re all about it.”

No surprise….she also quoted the Bible on the Oprah show a few months ago.

American Idol for Rent

He may have been kicked out of American Idol early but that’s not going to stop former stripper David Hernandez’s hopes of making a name for himself. It’s being said that David has gone to the Big Apple to audition for the cast of Broadway’s ‘Rent’. Paparazzi caught up to the Idol castoff and they say that he seemed a little bewildered by the big city. He kept asking random strangers for help finding a car and even asked a Hasidic Jew whether he was a ‘Pilgrim’. Ok. Moving on, there’s no word whether he got to his audition or is already in. The Broadway production of ‘Rent’ ends its amazing 12-year run on June 1.

Tokio Hotel is returning to the States!

Tokio Hotel is returning to the States! Bill, Tom, Gustav & Georg have decided to come back to tour the US sooner than expected. Last time around, the international superstars instantly sold out shows in NYC and LA, playing to packed houses of screaming fans. They are about to make their highly anticipated TRL debut, cementing their place in the American pop music scene. The band has just added 5 new US tour dates, so check them out below. Madonna Jumps High

If music pre-sales was a high jump competition, Madonna would win without any contest. Just a few days ago, the Queen of Pop’s upcoming album ‘Hard Candy’ was at the number 18 spot on the Amazon best sellers list for CDs and it’s not even out until the end of April. Just yesterday, the album is already at number 2. It’s not quite the top, but she’s getting there. Mariah Carey managed to move up on the list as well. She’s at number 40 – a far distance from Madonna but at least she’s already on the list. Her record will be out a full 2 weeks before Madonna’s and she wasn’t even on the top 100 of the list a couple of days ago.

Jonas Brothers Go Patriotic

The Jonas Brothers show their patriotic side when they sand the National Anthem on the South Lawn at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington DC on Monday morning for the annual White House Easter Egg Roll. 20-year old Kevin, 18-year old Joe and 15-year old Nick belted out their best rendition of the song as thousands, including the Cat in the Hat, Tweety Bird, Charlie Brown, Mickey Mouse, Snoopy, Clifford the Big Red Dog and the official White House Easter bunnies, watched them perform. It may seem like I’m kidding but really, those are the so-called people in attendance. It is a kids’ event after all.

Madonna and Guy are Going Strong

Madonna’s rep Liz Rosenberg recently went on the record to say that the Queen of Pop and her hubby Guy Ritchie are still happily married. Everyone knows not to believe anything until they see proof and Madonna is more than happy to give us that. She and her director husband arrived arm-in-arm at upscale Italian restaurant Harry’s in Mayfair, London on Tuesday. It looks like they’re still spending time together. But again, I need some hard proof first. They could just be doing this for publicity’s sake. There were a lot of momentous events that Guy could have showed up with Madonna but he didn’t yet he chooses to go out to dinner with her on some random night after a lot of rumors came out about the 2 splitting up. Suspicious.

Eminem Writes

Eminem was once a rapper, tried to be an actor and is now wanting to be an author. The Detroit native is working on a tell-all memoir which will include details on his life story, photos, journal notes, hand-drawn sketches and lyrics. This would have been hot news if only it happened 5 years ago!

‘Eminem: The Way I Am’ is to be published by Orgion Books. The book is scheduled for release in the UK on October 16 of this year. Eminem’s team is said to be none too happy with the leak of this info as they claim it’s still a work in progress.

Leona Lewis in the US

X-Factor champion Leona Lewis has already taken the UK by storm and is even one of the best selling artists of 2007 on that side of the pond. Now, she’s set to release her debut album ‘Spirit’ in the US on April 28th. And she has some extra things in store.

Sources say that the singer is currently busy in the studio recording two brand new songs for the US release. One song, ‘Forgive Me’, is by singer/producer Akon and another is ‘Misses Glass’ by cutting edge producers/writers Madd Scientist and Rock City. Additionally, Leona has also re-recorded the video for ‘Bleeding Love’.

Miley Cyrus, a.k.a. Hannah Montana Concert Tour

Parents everywhere are breathing a collective sigh of relief. Maybe Christmas isn’t ruined after all.

It has been announced that Miley Cyrus, a.k.a. Hannah Montana, is extending her extremely popular tour and adding 14 more shows. The shows begin January 11 in Detroit and go until January 31 in Miami.

Disney says it was an overwhelming response from fans that made them decide to add the additional shows. I’m sure it had nothing to do with the fact that it’s a huge revenue maker.

One downfall - the Jonas Brothers, who are touring with Miley, will not be on the added shows. Instead, Aly & AJ will join Miley from January 11 to January 24, with another “special guest” appearing for the remainder of the shows.

Lily Allen Needs Privacy

Mom-to-be Lily Allen and her Chemical Brothers boyfriend Ed Simons were spotted doing some last minute Christmas shopping in Notting Hill in London on Wednesday. The Sun was first to report that the British singer was pregnant and she recently just announced that she IS pregnant with her first child.

Lily’s rep released a statement on Wednesday saying “I am pleased to confirm that Lily Allen and her boyfriend, Ed Simons, are expecting their first child. However, as the pregnancy is at a very, very early stage, the couple ask that you respect their privacy, as the health of Lily and their child is their paramount concern.”

And this time it’s not a rumor. It’s just not the Spears you’d expect.

Britney comes up clean in this one. Instead, the mother-to-be is Britney’s teenage sister and Nickelodeon star Jamie Lynn. She has announced that she is pregnant at age 16 by 18 or 19 years old boyfriend Casey Aldridge.

Most of Jamie Lynn’s fans are in the “tween” age of 8-12. She is the star of Nickelodeon’s show Zoey 101. Parents are concerned about the lack of solid female teen role models for their children.

Well, at least she has her big sister Britney for advice….on how NOT to raise children. Her family says they like Casey Aldridge and believe he will stand by Jamie Lynn and take care of this baby.

Nicole Scherzinger is Too Hot

Nicole Scherzinger is too hot to handle on the cover of Rap-Up magazine’s December 2007/January 2008 issue. She talks about a lot of things in the accompanying interview including the artists she admires, her ex, who she wants to date and many more.

When asked about who she admires, she said “I think Beyoncé is just amazing. She blows my mind. Gwen Stefani is one-of-a-kind. She’s the epitome of cool. Diana Ross—I wish I could be her. Michael Jackson, Justin Timberlake, all those people…”

When asked about which celebrity she would want to date, she said “I think one time I was like, ‘Matthew McConaughey is such a hottie and he’s a surfer.’ I used to kinda have a crush on him. Everybody loves that guy from The Notebook [Ryan Gosling]. Every girl watches and is like, ‘That’s gonna be me one day. It’s gonna be my guy.’”

I’m hoping that’s really the case. But I’m not holding my breath.

Lindsay Lohan at the Studio

Lindsay Lohan has been out of rehab for a while already and I guess she found it the right time to get back to work. Sources are saying that the troubled redhead is hard at work on another album. And you’ll never guess who she’s working with – JR Rotem!

Yup. Lindsay is working with the same music producer that reportedly hooked up with Britney Spears and is also responsible for the pop wreck’s commercial failure of an album ‘Blackout’. Is this really a smart move?

Lindsay and JR were spotted together in LA on Monday and by next week they’ll be in each others pants.

Ok from surprise nuptials to secret ones. Nelly Furtado was spotted partying at Miami’s Y100 Jingle Ball on Saturday wearing a gold band on her wedding finger.

The engagement between her and Cuban sound engineer Demacio “Demo” Castellon was revealed in July.

A source is quoted as saying: “Nelly was partying backstage with Natasha Bedingfield and Timbaland. She was so happy and there was no missing the gold band on her finger. Natasha took her hand and looked at it and then hugged her and whispered something in her ear. It looked like she was congratulating her.”

All I can say is congratulations Nelly. And who can blame them if they really did do it in secret…not everyone is up for the big celebrity wedding of the Jordan and Peter style.

Madonna is $120 Million Richer

Madonna and a longtime friend were spotted after their workout at a Midtown Gym club on Thursday morning. Perhaps she’s flexing those muscles for when she has to carry a sack full of money some time soon.

The Queen of Pop will reportedly leave her record label Warner Music to sign a $120 million recording and touring deal with Live Nation Inc. Under the terms of the proposed deal, Madonna would receive a signing bonus of $18 million and $17 million advance for each of three albums.

Madonna has been with Warner Music since her 1983 self-titled debut album. We have to wonder what went wrong for them to part ways.

Kelly Clarkson Hard at Work

Kelly Clarkson is still hard at work promoting her flop of an album ‘My December’. She recently released a new music video for one of the singles on the album. The video is for ‘Don’t Waste Your Time’.

Also, Kelly performed onstage at the Andre Agassi Charitable Foundation’s 12th Annual Grand Slam for Children (what a mouthful!) at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on Saturday.

The foundation was created to provide recreational and educational opportunities for at-risk children in Southern Nevada. They were able to raise more than $8.1 million.

Not to take away from the foundation’s success or anything, but I’m sure they would have gotten more had the performer been someone better than Kelly or if was Kelly before ‘My December’
